The Tailory New York is an appointment-only, women-owned and operated bespoke clothing company that combines modern fashion design with the heritage art of custom tailoring. We stand firmly in the belief and knowledge that suiting is genderless and caters in equal measure to men, women, and non-binary individuals.

The Tailory New York’s clients are bold, ambitious, and accomplished. We create meticulously tailored pieces that incorporate each individual’s unique preferences and lifestyle. This serves as an instrument for self-affirmation and self-empowerment.

We are also firm proponents of the modular wardrobe philosophy, where each of the custom pieces we design with our clients can be mixed and matched to create fresh new looks without buying additional items to supplement their wardrobe. We save our clients time thinking about what to wear in the morning, and they always look impossibly stylish.

The Tailory New York was founded by Parsons graduate Shao Yang in October 2013. Yang’s keen sense of fashion, coupled with her unparalleled tech and design skills, allows her to create looks for both men, women, and nonbinary individuals. Since the Tailory opened its doors in New York, it has become a mecca for the LGBTQIA+ community.

OUR PROCESS

Our studio is a safe space with individual, one-on-one consultations creating an intimate, comfortable experience. We recognize that exploring gender identity and personal style requires a judgment-free zone, and we've cultivated our space to provide exactly that.

For clients not based in New York or those preferring remote options, we offer virtual appointments from the comfort of their own homes. Whether local or visiting from across the globe, we provide a respectful, affirming space where each person's style journey is honored without bias.

The custom process is seamless: choose fabric from our hand-picked selection, then we guide you through every design detail—lining, buttons, monograms, lapels, and pockets. We take 45+ measurements including body dimensions and posture evaluation for optimal fit.

Your garment arrives in 8-10 weeks. We conduct a fitting and make necessary alterations, with our in-house tailors completing adjustments in as little as two days.
